Retention period: short rolling log retention (typically 7-14 days, depending on hosting).

3. Language Selection and Localization

For non-localized entry URLs (for example / or /contact), language is inferred from hosting edge country headers and the browser Accept-Language header.

When a localized URL (/de, /en, /zh) is requested, a strictly functional language preference cookie is set: freelance_locale (retention: 12 months).

4. Contact Form and Inquiry Handling

When you use the contact form, I process the submitted data (name, email, message, optional company) plus technical anti-abuse data (IP address, user agent, timestamps, spam signals).

Purpose: handling your inquiry, pre-contract communication, and protection against abuse/spam.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contract communication) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (security and anti-spam).

Retention period: contact submissions are deleted after 30 days.

Your contact data is not sold. Processing by technical processors (hosting/backup) may occur where required.

5. Admin Area and Session Cookie

For the protected admin area (/admin), a session cookie is set after successful login: freelance_admin_session.

Properties: HttpOnly, SameSite=Strict, Secure (on HTTPS), retention up to 12 hours. This cookie is used for administrators only.

6. Newsletter, Tracking and External Services

No newsletter is currently operated. External profiles (for example LinkedIn, GitHub, X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube) are linked as standard outbound links. Their privacy terms apply only after you click those links.
